A Summer Full of Treasures

Updated: Oct 1

Welcome back after our summer break. It seems like an age since we spoke! I hope you’ve had a happy summer, even though the weather left much to be desired.

In June, I enjoyed a wonderful getaway with a friend to Sorrento, a place I had always wanted to visit. The town itself was bustling and a little disappointing, but the Amalfi coastline was everything we expected it to be. Mesmerising, captivating and truly beautiful. The windy, narrow roads carved out of the hills are not for the faint-hearted though! Many times, I instinctively held my breath and exclaimed in horror as yet another car and motorbike squeezed past our coach.

We also ventured to Capri. Though a stormy day cut our boat tour short, it was an eye-opener watching the rich; dressed in their designer silks pretending not to feel the cold wind!

All through the summer, I have been busy with Elsie’s Vintage; collecting, shopping, styling and photographing all sorts of gorgeous treasures. The Shack has become my haven and comfort from the building work in the garden and the redecorating of the lounge.

With great sadness, I decided to move out of my unit at the Antiques Centre where I had been for a year. It was a hard decision, but with my business head-on, I knew it was the right one. In all honesty, it just wasn’t working for me. Now, all my gorgeous stock is here in The Shack and much more accessible for me to show you on my website and social media.

I returned to real-life fairs this month at Mobberley, Cheshire, and Staffordshire County Showground. It was nerve-wracking being back out there but, ultimately, thoroughly enjoyable. They are the only fairs I sell at now as I’m resigned to staying indoors and not battling the elements anymore!

Midweek Vintage Challenge on a Wednesday and Floral Joy on Instagram every Friday have been gaining in popularity; certainly keeping me very busy welcoming so many traders who regularly take part. If you haven’t followed me on Instagram and don’t know what I’m talking about, have a look. Showcasing fellow vintage shops and florals has become the focal point of the week, helping to support other small, independent businesses.

Well, that’s my recap on Summer.

Vintage Forever. Elsie.🌸
