Exploring the Beauty of French Antiques and Countryside

Updated: Oct 1

Greetings from a charming corner of France! No, I haven't relocated permanently to the shack—sadly, it's still a work in progress. However, I am currently settled comfortably in the picturesque countryside of France, ready to share tales of my recent adventures with you.

Remember when I mentioned plans to explore both Belgium and France in the previous newsletter? Well, Belgium didn't quite happen, but France certainly did.

France has been an absolute delight to explore. The rural landscapes here are quite different from what I'm accustomed to—less of the mountainous terrains I'm used to and more of sprawling, serene countryside. Fields stretch for miles, adorned with charming chateaux, meandering rivers, and enchanting yet weathered barns that seem eager to be renovated, lived in and loved once more. Of course, I can't not mention markets filled with beautiful vintage items and French antiques

The past month has been a whirlwind at Elsie’s Vintage—hunting for new treasures and all the excitement that comes with it.

I recently had a wonderful time at the Staffordshire Showground, surrounded by three expansive rooms filled with antiques and collectables. It was an absolute joy meeting some of you there and sharing our passion for unique finds.

My visits to Victoria Mill in Congleton continue to be a source of replenishment and delight, where I restock and revel in the ambience that inspires my vintage endeavours.

As winter steadily approaches, I'm venturing out to get ahead in finding new treasures as sourcing venues becomes a bit scarcer. Don't you find that as well? But before the winter chill sets in, we're greeted by autumn, painting the landscape with a vibrant tapestry of reds, browns, golds, and dashes of evergreen. It's a time when we all strive to infuse our homes with the essence of the season—adorning spaces with charming treasures, lighting candles, enjoying the warmth of log burners, cocooning ourselves in blankets, and cradling hot chocolate in our hands.

Looking ahead, I'm optimistic that 'Elsie's Shack' will soon be up and running, providing a whimsical studio space flooded with natural light, perfect for storing and photographing my cherished finds.

And then, there's the approaching holiday season! Yes, Christmas whispers in the air, and the frosty weather 'on top of the world' opens up more opportunities to share seasonal and festive styling ideas with all of you.

Mark your calendars! I'll be at the Mobberley, Cheshire Antique Fair on the 8th of October and participating in an online vintage fair on the 25th of October alongside some fantastic traders. I hope to see you there or have you join in on the online buying extravaganza!

Thank you for subscribing, and always remember, 'Vintage Forever!'

Warm wishes,

Elsie xx
