This is my first blog, so it's only right if I go ahead and introduce myself! I'm Jane, but in the world of all things vintage and wonderful, I go by Elsie. It's a name that stuck, thanks to my dear husband, and it's become the heart and soul of my little vintage venture - Elsie's Vintage. Let's take a stroll through the story of how this passion project came to life and how it's grown from a quaint corner in a church to a cosy online haven.
A Twist of Fate
Around five years ago, life threw me a curveball when my husband took on the restoration of a beautiful old church, turning it into an Antiques and Collectibles Emporium. This unexpected venture led me to bid adieu to my beloved yet demanding job in the NHS to manage the emporium's sweet little tea room. It was here, amid the charm of old-world treasures, that Elsie's Vintage began to take shape.
From Corner Nook to Vintage Hub
In that quaint corner of the emporium, filled with cherished vintage finds, Elsie's Vintage was born. Even though the Emporium has closed its doors since, my love for vintage endured, stronger than ever.
Embracing the Digital Realm
About three years back, I stumbled upon Instagram and a whole community of vintage enthusiasts like me. It was a space filled with kindred spirits, bonded by a shared love for capturing the essence of days gone by. Here, Elsie's Vintage expanded beyond the physical, finding a home on the web with a website, a Pinterest page, a bustling Instagram community, and an active Facebook page. And, of course, there's my circle of wonderful vintage-loving friends, a source of constant inspiration and companionship.
This blog is here to give you a glimpse into the world of Elsie's Vintage - from sneak peeks at new finds to special discounts, and, of course, some good old-fashioned vintage chatter.
In the next blog post, I'm excited to share snapshots from my very first trip to France. Who knows what hidden treasures I might uncover for you? Plus, there's the anticipation of finally completing Elsie's Shack, a cosy spot to house my growing collection and a place to craft new vintage wonders.
