Victorian Cake Tin

This is such an interesting piece as it is marked ‘Cakes’ but resembles an old hat tin. In the days when sugar was a luxury, the contents would have been guarded fiercely when on their travels perhaps. I suspect there was a lock on the clasp originally. Such a bright and cheerful colour announcing the arrival of a treat! Knocks, bumps and scratches, but we love it all the more because of them. Measures 9ins diameter x 6.5ins high plus handle.
